Bike enthusiasts are gearing up for the event of the year

Where could a few hundred bikers on Royal Enfield motorcycles be headed to all at once – to the annual Rider Mania of course ! The Royal Enfield bikers dream event is happening at our very own Ramoji Film City on January 18 and 19. What began in 2003 with the first Rider Mania at Goa with 60 odd bikers getting together, has gained momentum over five years with a steady increase in the number of bike enthusiasts. Enfield clubs today are not just present in the metros but have percolated to smaller towns as well.

Royal Enfield India began with an assembling unit in 1955 and eventually a manufacturing unit was set up at Chennai. Soon the 500cc Bullet was introduced. its sheer power, unmatched stability, superior riding comfort and rugged look dominated the Indian roads and continues to do so. It is amply endorsed by the Indian Army and Police.

Rider Mania has National participation from 10 States and for many it is the culmination of an adventure that begins from home. For instance, Hari Shankar Arora from Gwalior is all excited about covering 1200 kms to the event at Hyderabad. “I have a 500cc Bullet and have ridden to Jaipur and Delhi but this is going to be my first long haul ride. I am hoping to be joined by some more participants from Bhopal and other places en route.” While Deepa Akhoury, a motorcyclist with a decades experience is riding down on her 350cc Thunderbird from Bangalore with 30 members of the RTMC Club for the big event.

Sponsored by Royal Enfield and hosted by The Wanderers, Royal Enfield enthusiasts from Hyderabad, Rider Mania 2008 promises to be an exciting event especially for the ardent biking buff. Besides events like slow biking, figure of eight, best modified bikes, there will be non bike events like arm wrestling etc. The bikers will be entertained by the rock band Alter Ego with DJ Priya from Pune and authentic Hyderabadi hospitality after sun down. Full fledged technical support will be extended by the company on site.
